Phone check-in: permissions, recorded proof, and GPS authenticity limits
The owner controls who can check in from a phone. Every phone check-in gets an honesty score, doubtful ones are decided by HR, and the web cannot prove a GPS location is real.

The Seller Center and the apps are shown in Indonesian. Menu and button names in bold are the exact labels you will see, with the English meaning in brackets where it helps.
Steps
The store switch is the parent setting: open HR Settings > Phone check-in. When it is off, the CHECK IN button disappears on every employee's phone and phone check-ins are rejected; use an attendance machine instead. Leave, payslips, and reviews stay available.
Per branch: a branch that uses an attendance machine can have phone check-in switched off on its own.
Per employee: pick All employees and untick specific people, or pick Only people I choose and tick who may check in (for example field sales).
Every phone check-in records: a face photo from the live camera (not the gallery, no EXIF data; a photo hash is kept to detect reused photos), GPS points from several readings over a few seconds, the IP address with an approximate city and country (recorded by the server), the device id, server time, distance to the branch, and a short motion signal when allowed. Photos are kept for 90 days and then deleted; the score and its reasons stay.
Each phone check-in gets a score from 0 to 100 with reasons. A score below 70 is not rejected automatically: the check-in is still recorded, the day is marked as waiting for approval, and HR decides in Attendance > Needs review (Approve or Reject, with a note).
Employees only see that their check-in will be reviewed, not the score or the reasons.
Tips
- A web app cannot prove that GPS is real: the browser cannot read Android's "mock location" flag. The system only detects suspicious signs (inconsistent points, impossible jumps, an IP far from the GPS, a phone clock that is off, a reused photo) and leaves the decision to HR.
- A suspicious sign is a hint, not proof: weak signal, a VPN, or a mobile network can trigger it too. Check the photo and ask the employee directly before rejecting.
Common questions
An employee's check-in is in Needs review. Was it rejected automatically?
No. It is still recorded and the day waits for HR's decision in Attendance > Needs review. Approve or reject with a note after checking the photo and asking the employee.
Do employees see their score?
No. Employees only see that their check-in will be reviewed, not the score or the reasons.
How long are check-in photos kept?
90 days, then they are deleted. The score and its reasons are kept.
Can the system detect fake GPS apps for certain?
No. The web only detects suspicious signs and flags them for HR to review. The final decision stays with HR.
